Tony Trabert is a former professional tennis player. He began to exhibit his skills with the racquet when he played in college at the University of Cincinnati and became a standout star by winning the 1951 NCAA Championship Singles title. In 1995 Tony turned pro and quickly became one of the best ever American tennis players. In his career Tony won the three most prestigious tournaments in route to becoming the number 1 ranked player. He has a career record of 58-11 in singles play including victories in just about every major tennis event. In 1963 Tony retired from playing tennis competitively and went on to spend 33 years as a broadcaster when he worked as a golf and tennis analyst for CBS by covering events like the U.S. Open. Among other accomplishments in his career, Tony was inducted into the International Tennis Hall of Fame as a part of the 1970 class.
