About Vic Fangio
Vic Fangio has garnered respect over four decades of coaching and now pilots the Miami Dolphins' defense. He reached the pinnacle of the profession, serving as head coach of the Denver Broncos from 2019-2021. Fangio spent 20 seasons as a defensive coordinator waiting for an opportunity to run his own team. In the 12 years prior to being named head coach in Denver, his defenses ranked top five in the NFL in points allowed seven times. Before coming to the Broncos, Fangio was the Chicago Bears defensive coordinator for four seasons. He was lauded for his work getting Chicago back to the playoffs and was named AP NFL Assistant Coach of the Year in 2018. Fangio got his first NFL coaching opportunity with the New Orleans Saints in 1986 and spent nine years as their linebackers coach. He had a determined rise through the profession, starting out as an assistant at his high school alma mater in 1979 and taking positions at Milford Academy, North Carolina, and with the Baltimore Stars before ending up in the NFL.
