Wendi Richter stands out as a trailblazer in professional wrestling history through her vital work for the sport during the 1980s. Born in 1960 in Dallas, Texas, she grew up working on her family's ranch and participated in rodeo competitions. Richter attended Bossier High School while playing volleyball track and cross-country before moving to Draughon's Business College in Dallas to study computer programming. She established her current home in Crystal River Florida while maintaining work as an occupational therapist there.

The Fabulous Moolah trained Wendi Richter for wrestling in 1979 before Richter started her wrestling career. The audience praised her athletic abilities alongside her charming personality which established her as a vital character in WWE's connection with the MTV generation. At "The Brawl to End It All" in 1984 Wendi Richter defeated The Fabulous Moolah to become the WWF Women's Champion thus enabling WWE to achieve broader commercial success.

Wendi Richter's WWE career included both her achievements and the disputes that emerged during her time with the company. In November 1985 she lost to "The Spider" who was later revealed as Moolah in a match that became famous as the "original screwjob" leading to her departure from WWE before she joined the AWA and WWC where she continued to succeed.

After retiring from wrestling in 2005 Richter started working as an occupational therapist. She joined dog breeding activities while also taking part in top dog competitions like the Westminster Kennel Club Dog Show. WWE recognized Wendi Richter's contributions to wrestling by inducting her into their Hall of Fame in 2010 through an introduction by Roddy Piper who praised her influence on the industry as well as her role in building paths for upcoming female wrestlers.
