About Wendy Turnbull
Wendy Turnbull is a legendary doubles tennis player, winning nine Grand Slams in women’s and mixed doubles. Overall, Turnbull captured 55 doubles titles. She was also a successful singles player, winning ten times as an individual and finishing as a runner-up in three Grand Slams. Turnbull’s career singles record is 478-250 and her doubles record is a staggering 653-225. At one point, she was a top five player in the world in singles and doubles. Her reign as a top ten singles player lasted from 1977-1984. After turning pro in 1975, Turnbull would be given the nickname “Rabbit” for her quick feet on the court. In international play, she competed for Australia at the Women’s Fed Cup for 12 years and served as a captain and coach for nine. Her career success was honored with induction into the Australian Tennis Hall of Fame in 2009. A public park is also dedicated to Turnbull in her hometown of Brisbane. She now resides in Boca Raton, Florida.
