About Willie Randolph
Over an 18 year career, Willie Randolph established himself as one of the best second basemen in the modern era of baseball. Randolph was a six-time All-Star and two-time World Series champion with the New York Yankees. He was co-captain of the Yankees for three seasons and played for five other franchises in his career. Following his playing career, Randolph put on the pinstripes again as a Yankees’ coach for 11 seasons. In that role, he won four more titles with the franchise. Randolph became Mets manager in 2005 and in 2006 led the team to 97 wins. They won the NL East and lost to the Cardinals in game seven of the NLCS. Randolph would be relieved of his duties just two years later, but went on to coach the Milwaukee Brewers and Baltimore Orioles. He also was the third base coach for Team USA in the 2012 World Baseball Classic. Randolph’s memoir, “The Yankee Way”, was published in 2014.
