About Willson Contreras
Willson Contreras is a dominant hitter who made his mark with the Chicago Cubs and currently stars with the Boston Red Sox. He was promoted to the major leagues midway through the 2016 season, joining the team on a ride that would culminate in the franchise's first World Series berth since 1945. Contreras announced his presence early on, hitting a home run on the first big league pitch he saw. He finished the regular season batting .286 with 12 homers and 35 RBI. Contreras went on to hit a homer in the ninth inning of Game 4 of the National League Division Series. The shot tied the game and the Cubs would win the game later in the inning and advance to the NLCS. Prior to arriving at the big league level, Contreras was regarded as one of the top prospects in the game. Chicago originally signed him as an international free agent in 2009.
