About Zdeno Chara
Zdeno Chara is a six-time NHL All-Star and one of the best defensemen in hockey. At 6’9”, he is the tallest player in league history and due to this height advantage has recorded some of the hardest slap shots ever. Chara captained the Boston Bruins to a Stanley Cup in 2011. In 2009, he won the Norris Memorial Trophy as the NHL’s top defenseman and has been a finalist for the award five other times. He has represented Slovakia in Olympic competition on three occasions. Chara is one of the most respected players in the league, as evidenced by being only the second European to captain a team to a championship. The same year the Bruins won the Cup, Chara was presented with the Mark Messier Leadership Award. He has enhanced his natural leadership skills by learning to speak seven languages. Chara is also an athletic ambassador for the global organization, Right to Play.
