Many members of the Super Bowl-champion Philadelphia Eagles are getting an array of off-field opportunities. Wide receiver Torrey Smith recently got to impact a group of young people.
On Monday, Smith spoke at a unity walk at Whitemarsh High School. Students, teachers and administrators walked a lap around the school's track and then huddled at midfield to hear him speak.
The event was put together by Whitemarsh's Black Cultural Awareness Club. Smith gave his own spin on unity and shared stories about how the Eagles locker room came together to win a Super Bowl.
Smith made 11 regular season starts this past season and collected 408 receiving yards and two touchdowns. He caught five passes for 49 yards during Philadelphia's Super Bowl LII victory over the New England Patriots.
The Baltimore Ravens originally chose Smith in the second round of the 2011 NFL Draft. He was a star from the start and recorded at least 800 receiving yards in each of his first two seasons.
Smith also capped year two with the Ravens by winning Super Bowl XLVII. He had the best year of his career in 2013, catching 65 passes for 1,128 yards and four touchdowns.
