Torrey Smith Biography

Torrey Smith plays in the National Football League as a wide receiver for the Carolina Panthers. Prior to making it all the way to the NFL, Torrey’s career began in college where he played for the University of Maryland. After he redshirted in his first year, Torrey took to the field in 2008 and showed how valuable he was to the team. He played in all 13 games and started the last six of the season in which he was able to regularly get Maryland good field position on his punt returns. After college he was selected as the 58th overall pick in the 2011 NFL Draft. In only his third career game he became the only rookie and only the twelfth player to score three touchdowns in a single quarter of a game. He finished his rookie season with 50 receptions for 841 yards which is a Ravens rookie record. Torrey is now getting close to 4,000 career receiving yards, all of which were important in 2012 when he aided the Ravens in winning the AFC Championship and Super Bowl titles.
