Thursday stands to be the biggest day in the lives of young basketball stars Kris Dunn and Brandon ingram. While the platform of being a high lottery selection in the NBA Draft brings certain cache, each player already kickstarted their off-court interests.
Dunn and Ingram each star in a new Speed Stick commercial. In the "First Impressions Are Everything" spot, the two get advice from iconic character Coach Speedman, played by actor John C. McGinley.
The ad got play during the draft. Both Dunn and Ingram also recorded individual commercials with McGinley that have been airing.
Dunn is the newest member of the Minnesota Timberwolves after being selected with the fifth pick last night. After a standout four seasons at Providence, he looks ready to make an instant impact on the NBA stage.
Dunn enters the league as the back-to-back Big East Player of the Year and Big East Defensive Player of the Year. He was also a consensus first-team All-American last year after averaging 16.4 points, 6.2 assists and 5.3 rebounds per game.
The Los Angeles Lakers are counting on Ingram to be their next franchise player after selecting him second overall. If the skills he flashed in one season at Duke are any indication, he is well on his way.
Ingram averaged 17.3 points and 6.8 rebounds per game while shooting over 40 percent from three in his only collegiate season. He was named ACC Rookie of the Year and an All-ACC second team performer.
