There is little doubt that Dallas Keuchel is the hit of Houston right now. With the Astros in position to potentially make the playoffs for the first time since 2005 and Keuchel frontlining the rotation, there is no hotter name in the city.
Last Wednesday, fans packed a Houston-area Whataburger to see their recently anointed ace along with Astros mascot Orbit and the Shooting Stars team. Keuchel signed autographs and took photos with fans during the 11:00 a.m. hour.
Lucky attendees also won tickets and other prizes. It was the third Whataburger Whatafan event the Astros had hosted this summer.
Keuchel has dominated so far this season, going 13-5 with a 2.35 ERA. He made his first All-Star team and was awarded American League Pitcher of the Year honors in April and May.
Keuchel made his first impact last season in Houston, starting 29 games and going 12-9 while posting a 2.93 ERA. He also proved to be a defensive wiz, winning the AL Gold Glove at his position.
In 2012, Keuchel debuted with the Astros and threw a complete game in his second start. The franchise made him a seventh round selection out of Arkansas in 2009.
