No matter where San Francisco 49ers defensive coordinator Eric Mangini goes in the NFL, the road for him always leads back to Hartford.  Each summer, he hosts a youth football camp at his alma mater in the city, Bulkeley High School. 

Now in its 14th year, the camp attracts between 700 and 800 campers annually.  The knowledge that those in attendance receiver from Mangini and the coaches he assembles is invaluable.

Mangini has spent his entire coaching career in the NFL and originally began as an offensive assistant with the Baltimore Ravens in 1996.  He first gained great recognition winning two Super Bowls while coaching defensive backs and then the entire defense for the New England Patriots.

Opportunities to be a head coach followed with the New York Jets and Cleveland Browns.  In his first season at the top spot, Mangini led the Jets to the playoffs with a 10-6 record. 

In his time away from coaching, he served as an analyst for ESPN.  Mangini joined the 49ers staff in 2013 and will be in his first year as defensive coordinator this season.
