Walter Jones Biography

Regarded as one of the greatest offensive linemen ever, Walter Jones was elected into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 2014 on the first ballot. Jones was a nine-time Pro Bowler and seven-time All-Pro selection. He played all 180 games for the Seattle Seahawks. Throughout those games, Jones only allowed 23 sacks and committed just nine holding penalties. He won the NFC with the Seahawks in 2005 and the team has retired his #71 jersey. Jones paved the way for many offensive standouts, including running backs Ricky Watters and Shaun Alexander. At Super Bowl XLVIII, he was the franchise’s honorary captain as they capture their first title with a 43-8 domination of the Denver Broncos. Jones was the sixth overall pick of the 1997 NFL Draft. He played just one season at Florida State, starting 11 games and allowing one sack. In his previous two seasons at Holmes Community College, Jones had only given up one sack as well.
