American Skiing Legend Billy Kidd Speaks at Austin-Bergstrom International Airport

American skiing legend Billy Kidd has made his home in Steamboat Springs, Colorado since 1970. He took time this morning to promote a new service coming to his city.

Kidd was on hand as ViaAir announced a new winter seasonal service between Austin-Bergstrom International Airport and Steamboat Springs. He spoke this morning at the airport at 10:15 in the South Terminal.

There were officials on-hand from ViaAir and Steamboat Springs Resort. The nonstop service operates on Wednesdays, Saturdays and Sundays.

Kidd was a part of the United States ski team from 1962-1970. He reached the pinnacle of his career in 1964 when he and teammate Jimmie Heuga became the first American men to win Olympic medals in alpine skiing.

Kidd also won three World Championship medals during his career. He closed his days as an amateur by winning a gold medal in the combined and a bronze in the slalom at the 1970 World Championships.

Kidd went on to a successful career as a professional skier for three seasons. He is the director of skiing at Steamboat Springs Resort and regularly conducts skiing trips for top Fortune 500 companies.
