Mike Piazza is one of the most beloved New York Mets players of all-time. There should be a great crowd of Piazza fans in attendance when he speaks at the nearby North Jersey Sports Awards.

Piazza defied the odds to have one of the greatest careers in baseball history despite not being drafted until the 62nd round in 1988. He was a 12-time All-Star over 16 big league seasons.

Piazza hit a record 396 home runs as a catcher and 427 homers overall. He finished his career with a .308 batting average and was a ten-time Silver Slugger Award winner.

Piazza helped lead the Mets to the World Series in 200 and has his jersey retired by the team. He was inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame in 2016.
