About Mike Piazza
Mike Piazza played 8 of his 16 major league seasons with the New York Mets, and also played for the Los Angeles Dodgers, Florida Marlins, San Diego Padres and Oakland Athletics from 1992 to 2007. During his first year in the big leagues he was named the 1993 NL Rookie of the Year after hitting .318 with 35 homeruns and 112 RBI. When he retired in 2008 he finished with a .308 career batting average and 427 career home runs, which is the most among catchers in MLB history. Piazza's greatest career moment came when he hit a game winning home run against the Atlanta Braves 10 days after the tragic events of 9/11. During his career he earned 12 All-Star selections, 10 Silver Slugger Awards and was named the MLB All-Star Game MVP in 1996. After his retirement he pursued a successful acting career and has since become a popular broadcaster and baseball analyst.
