About Adam Wainwright
Adam Wainwright had a storied career, spending the entirety of his 18 years in Major League Baseball with the St. Louis Cardinals. Wainwright won exactly 200 games in his career and collected over 2,200 strikeouts. He was a three-time All-Star.
Wainwright was originally a first-round pick of the Atlanta Braves out of high school in 2000. He made his major league debut with the Cardinals in 2005 and, a year later, briefly became the team's closer, helping them win the World Series. He would spend the remainder of his career in the starting rotation, leading the National League in wins in 2009 and 2013. Wainwright was also a great fielder in his position, winning Gold Glove Awards those same two years.
His retirement has allowed Wainwright to delve into a diverse array of interests off the field. That includes more work with his Big League Impact foundation, for which he won the 2020 Roberto Clemente Award. He has also spent time working in broadcasting for Fox Sports and is working on a debut album as a country music singer-songwriter.
