Alex Bregman is a standout third baseman for the Chicago Cubs. Bregman spent the first nine years of his career with the Houston Astros, becoming a two-time All-Star and two-time World Series champion.
Towards the end of his junior year of college, he was selected by the Houston Astros with the second pick in the first round of the 2015 MLB draft. He was named a 2016 AA mid-season All Star, and the 2016 USA Today Minor League Player of the Year, MLB Pipeline Hitter of the Year, and ESPN.com Prospect of the Year. The Astros called him up to the major leagues in July 2016
For the 2017 season, he batted .284 with 39 doubles and 5 triples (both 9th in the AL), 19 home runs, 88 runs, 71 RBIs, and 17 stolen bases (tied for the lead among all major league third basemen). Bregman played third base primarily (132 games), and led AL third basemen in fielding percentage (.970), while also playing 30 games at shortstop.
During the fifth game of the 2017 World Series Bregman had the game winning hit.
