About Andre Dawson
Andre Dawson was lauded for his aggressive style on a baseball diamond throughout his 21 year career. That tenure landed him induction into the Baseball Hall of Fame in 2010. Dawson was an eight time All-Star, Rookie of the Year in 1977, and Most Valuable Player in 1987. He is one of eight members of baseball’s 300 home run/300 stolen base club. A prolific fielder early on in his career, Dawson won eight Gold Glove awards. Known from an early age as “The Hawk”, Dawson played for the Montreal Expos, Chicago Cubs, Boston Red Sox, and Florida Marlins. He achieved the rare feat of capturing an MVP award despite the Cubs’ last place division finish in 1987. Despite never playing in a World Series, Dawson did lead the Expos to their only postseason series win in franchise history. Dawson has been employed in the Florida/Miami Marlins front office since his retirement in 1996.
