About Andrew Miller
Andrew Miller was one of the top relievers in baseball at several points throughout his big league career. Miller made back-to-back All-Star appearances in 2016 and 2017. During that first All-Star season, he was traded by the New York Yankees to the Cleveland Indians and became a key part of their World Series run. Miller set a postseason record for strikeouts by a reliever and was named American League Reliever of the Year.
Miller's first big year was with the Yankees in 2015, when he posted a 2.04 ERA and 36 saves. For his efforts, he won the American League Relief Pitcher of the Year Award. Miller joined the Yankees as a free agent following the 2014 season where he split time between the Boston Red Sox and Baltimore Orioles. During his time with the Red Sox, he transitioned from the role of starter to reliever.
Miller debuted in the big leagues as a much-hyped prospect in 2006 with the Detroit Tigers. He also spent three seasons with the Florida Marlins. Detroit originally selected Miller with the sixth overall pick of the 2006 MLB Draft. He was a college star at North Carolina. Miller holds Tar Heels single-season and career strikeout records. The school has retired his #33 jersey.
