Art Briles achieved enormous success as the head football coach at Baylor University. Briles put Baylor on the map, getting hired in 2008, and three years later taking the Bears to their first bowl game in 15 years. He has two ten plus win seasons, while the program had only won ten games one other time in its history. Briles won the Big 12 Conference in 2013 and Baylor was invited to the Fiesta Bowl. Key to his success was finding and developing star quarterback Robert Griffin III. Griffin won the Heisman Trophy for the Bears in 2011. Prior to his tenure at Baylor, Briles was the head coach at the University of Houston. He won one Conference USA title with the Cougars and took the program to four bowl games in five seasons. Briles had just one college coaching job before heading to UH, running backs coach at Texas Tech. The first player he recruited for the Red Raiders was future NFL star Wes Welker. Prior to his time in the collegiate ranks, Briles was a standout high school coach in Texas for 20 years. He won four state titles at Stephenville High School.
