About Dick Vermeil
Dick Vermeil’s coaching resume is impressive to say the least. For a guy that started as a high school assistant in 1959 and worked his way up to college in 1963, then to the NFL in 1969, you could say he was a definite success. But there’s more to the story. As a college coach he led the UCLA Bruins to a Rose Bowl Championship in 1975 and was named the Pac-12 Coach of the Year. At the professional level he was named NFL Coach of the Year in 1978 and 1979 while coaching the Philadelphia Eagles, and then returned to the NFL in the 90’s and was named NFL Coach of the Year in 1999 while heading up the St. Louis Rams and again in 2003 as the coach of the Kansas City Chiefs. During that time his team’s achieved unprecedented success on the field, with the Rams capturing a Super Bowl championship in 2000 and the Eagles capturing an NFC Championship in 1980. For his cherished commitment to success both on and off the field he was inducted into the St. Louis Rams Ring of Honor and the Eagles Hall of Fame.
