About Bear Bachmeier
Bear Bachmeier is a dynamic quarterback for the BYU Cougars. Hailing from Murrieta, California, the 6'2" and 225 lbs dual-threat phenom initially committed to Stanford in 2024 as a four-star recruit, drawing offers from powerhouse programs such as Alabama, Notre Dame, Oregon, and more. After enrolling early and participating in spring practices, he transferred to BYU in summer 2025 alongside his brother, Tiger, who played wide receiver, citing family ties and faith. At Murrieta Valley High, Bear amassed 6,810 passing yards, 59 TDs, 1,724 rushing yards, and 33 rushing scores over four varsity seasons, earning three-time All-Big West Upper and two-time All-CIF honors. Named BYU's starter to begin the 2025 season as the first true freshman ever to get to start in Provo, he's thrown for over 2,000 yards this year, earning several watch list accolades.
