About Billy Sims
Billy Sims played football for the University of Oklahoma before he transitioned to the NFL. In college Sims was a two time All-American and the winner of the Heisman Trophy in 1978. He also became the first running back in the then Big 8 Conference to rush for 200 yards in three consecutive games. Those numbers led to Billy being inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame. Sims was drafted number one overall in the 1980 NFL draft by the Detroit Lions where he spent his entire five year professional career. In those five seasons he was selected to the Pro Bowl three times and was offensive rookie of the year in 1980. Sims is regarded as a hero in his home town of Hooks, Texas to this day, where he has a road named after him, and he even maintains 44 Billy Sims Barbecue restaurants with co-founder Jeff Jackson.
