About Bobby Abreu
Bobby Abreu was a dominant major league hitter over the course of his 18-year career. He came up with the Houston Astros in 1996, but would really start to make an impact when he joined the Philadelphia Phillies two years later. Abreu was regularly a threat to hit over 20 home runs and steal over 20 bases in a season. He made back-to-back All-Star teams in 2004 and 2005. In 2004, Abreu finished with a .301 average, 30 home runs and 105 RBI on the way to winning a Silver Slugger Award. That second year, Abreu put on a show, setting then records of 24 home runs in a round and 41 overall homers in the Home Run Derby. He also won a Gold Glove in 2005. He continued to be a productive player over the next several seasons with the New York Yankees and Los Angeles Angels. Abreu finished his career with the New York Mets in 2014.
