Chase Utley has a passion for the sport of baseball and quickly found success in it as a player growing up in Long Beach, California. He went on to accept a baseball scholarship at the University of California, Los Angeles. Utley, a First-Team All-American, was drafted 15th overall by the Philadelphia Phillies in the 2000 MLB Amateur Draft. After 2 seasons in the Phillies farm system, Utley received his call up to the Big Leagues in 2003 and working his way into the starting role by 2005. The sure-hitting second baseman improved his fielding abilities to become one of the most dominant second baseman in the game, earning a spot as the second baseman on Sport Illustrateds All 2000s Decade Team. Earning 6 All-Star selections and 4 Silver Slugger Awards, Utley paired with Jimmy Rollins as one of the best middle infield combinations in the League. Utley was key player in the Phillies 2008 World Series victory, and helped lead the team back to the World Series in 2009 where despite his MLB record tying 5 HRs in a World Series, the Phillies ended up falling to the Yankees.
