About Brenda Frese
Brenda Frese serves as a successful American women's basketball coach who has led the University of Maryland Terrapins to national success. She took over the program in 2002 and built it into a national powerhouse while achieving a 639–191 career record and winning the 2006 NCAA Championship title.
The Maryland women's basketball team has participated in the NCAA Tournament eighteen times under Frese's leadership while reaching three Final Four appearances and achieving eleven Sweet Sixteens. Her teams have won 14 conference titles which demonstrate her ability to develop winning teams consistently. Frese became one of seven coaches to win a national championship after becoming a parent when she gave birth to twin boys in February 2008.
Frese started her coaching career at Ball State in 1999 before moving to Minnesota in 2001 before joining Maryland. Her ability to understand strategic changes in women's college basketball together with her adaptability has made her a leading figure in the sport.
The academic excellence of Frese's teams remains evident through their 100% graduation rate throughout her coaching period. Through her accomplishments she has created a lasting impact that motivates both current and future athletes and coaches.
