About Brian Banks
Brian Banks is a retired NFL linebacker. He spent time on the Atlanta Falcons practice squad. Banks journey to the NFL has been extremely unique, as he was originally a star high school linebacker who looked to have a promising collegiate and NFL career ahead of him. This all changed in 2002, when a fellow student filed a false rape allegation against him, earning him five years in prison until his sentence was overturned in 2012 after the accuser had admitted she had falsified details of the case. Following his release from prison, Banks was given NFL tryouts with several teams, including the Kansas City Chiefs, the San Francisco 49ers, and the San Diego Chargers. Banks attended minicamp with the Seattle Seahawks in 2012, eventually signing with the Las Vegas Locomotives of the UFL for the rest of the season. In 2013, Banks was invited to join the Atlanta Falcons, making his NFL debut in the preseason, but he was cut prior to the start of the season. He currently speaks around the country about the legal system and wrongful convictions and serves as a life coach.
