About Brian McCann
Brian McCann is an MLB catcher who currently plays for the Atlanta Braves. A talented high school prospect, McCann was drafted in the second round of the 2002 MLB Draft by the Atlanta Braves, choosing to sign with the team rather than attend college. After tearing up the minor leagues for three years, McCann made his MLB debut in 2005 as John Smoltz’ personal catcher. In 2006, McCann became the team’s full time catcher, and he would not disappoint, as he hit .333 with 24 homeruns and 94 RBI. These numbers led all major league catchers, and McCann would be voted to his first All Star game. Over the years, McCann evolved into one of the game’s top catchers, making seven All Star games, including six straight from 2006 to 2011. His five silver slugger awards are just a reflection of how well he played, and he was the MVP of the All Star game in 2010. In November of 2013, McCann signed with the New York Yankees.
