About Bruce Weber
Bruce Weber had great success at three different head coaching stops in college basketball, going to 13 NCAA Tournaments in all. He coached the Kansas State Wildcats from 2012-22, going to the tourney five times.On two occasions, KSU won the Big 12 regular season, the first time resulting in Weber being named Big 12 Coach of the Year.
Weber originally got his start in college coaching as an assistant coach at Western Kentucky in 1979.After two seasons at Western Kentucky, he served as an assistant coach at Purdue University for 18 seasons from 1980 to 1998.In 1998 he was hired as the new head coach at Southern Illinois University and led the Salukis to 103 wins in five seasons.During his last two seasons at Southern Illinois, his teams won a combined 52 games and made two appearances in the NCAA Tournament.
In 2003, Weber was hired as the head coach at the University of Illinois and went to lead the Fighting Illini to six NCAA tournament appearances and 210 wins in nine seasons from 2003 to 2012. In 2005, Coach Weber was named the Naismith National Coach of the Year and AP National Coach of the Year. His other accolades include being named MVC Coach of the Year in 2003 and Big Ten Coach of the Year in 2005.
