About Casey Matthews
Casey Matthews was a professional linebacker for the Philadelphia Eagles and Minnesota Vikingsof the NFL. Matthews attended the University of Oregon from 2007-2011 and as a true freshman, he saw action in the first 11 games and he experienced one start. As a sophomore, he played in all 13 games. Matthews participated in the 2011 BCS National Championship Game that Oregon lost to Auburn. Matthews was named to the Second team All-Pac-10; First team All-Pac-10 and Second Team All-American. He was also named the Oregon Ducks Most Outstanding Player. The Philadelphia Eagles selected Matthews in the fourth round of the 2011 NFL Draft. On July 27, 2011, Matthews signed a four-year contract with the Eagles. Matthews began the 2011 NFL season as the Eagles’ starting middle linebacker. Matthews became the starting nickel-linebacker for the Eagles before the week 14 game at Miami. Casey Matthews comes from a football dynasty family. His brother is Clay Matthews who plays for the Green Bay Packers.
