About Cat Osterman
Cat Osterman is one of the all-time greats in softball. Osterman began playing softball when she was in the first grade, but she quit to play soccer and basketball. It was not until Osterman was in fifth grade that she went back to softball. Osterman attended the University of Texas where as a freshman she was named a National Fastpitch Coaches’ Association Second Team All-American, Big 12 First Team and Pitcher of the Year. As a sophomore, she was an All-American and a Big 12 Pitcher and Female Athlete of the Year. She also threw 4 no-hitters and a perfect game her sophomore year while breaking her own UT records. During the Women’s College World Series, Osterman struck out 11 batters. She redshirted from UT to participate in the 2004 Summer Olympics and she ended up taking home the gold. In 2005, Osterman returned to UT to finish out her last two seasons. On February 15, 2006, the Connecticut Brakettes as the 1st overall pick in the National Pro Fastpitch softball league draft selected her. She also participated in the 2008 Summer Olympics where she took home the silver medal.
