About Chris Cooley
Despite being a State Champion and All-American wrestler in high school, Chris Cooley chose to accept a football scholarship to Utah State University where he recorded 95 receptions for 1,255 yards as a tight end. After leading the nation in receptions for a tight end in 2003, Cooley entered the NFL Draft where he drafted by the Washington Redskins. Cooley, who was underused in the first half of his rookie season, went on to lead Washington in receiving TDs with 6 and established himself as one of WashingtonÂs premier targets in the passing game. Cooley went on to spend 9 seasons with Washington as one of the LeagueÂs most reliable tight ends and in 2012 when he retired he broke the franchise record for career receptions at the tight end position with 429. Cooley was a 2x Pro-Bowler and made one All-Pro appearance and finished his career with 4,711 receiving yards and 33 TDs.
