About Chris Nilan
A perennial tough guy, Chris Nilan's professional hockey career spanned 12 seasons in the NHL with 3 different teams. Known by his nickname Knuckles, Nilan was never one to miss out on an opportunity for a fight. Nilan entered the NHL when he was selected in the 1978 NHL Draft by the Montreal Canadiens. The right wing player made a name for himself as an enforcer and is one of only nine players in NHL history to total more than 3,000 penalty minutes in their career. Nilan still holds NHL records for average penalty minutes per game with 4.42 min. per game and most penalties in one game with 10 from a 1991 game when he was with the Boston Bruins. Nilan earned one Stanley Cup championship in 1986 and was named to Team USA in 1987 for the Canada Cup. Nilan currently hosts his own radio program and travels the country discussing how he learned from his life experiences and lessons from drug and alcohol abuse.
