Chris Sharma continues to take the sport of rock climbing to new heights, literally. The Santa Cruz, California native began his climbing career at the age of 12 in a small climbing gym in California. Sharma hasn’t looked back, or down, since. He continues to seek the next toughest challenge as he has broken his own record for the toughest climbs ever recorded numerous times. Sharma, who many believe to be the greatest climber in the world, even created a new category for difficulty (5.15c) since he was the first climber to ever achieve difficulties of 5.15a and 5.15b. Never being satisfied, Sharma even invented a new style of climbing which entails climbing the side of a cliff without a harness, leaving nothing but the ocean to break his fall. Sharma is constantly trying to innovate the sport, which is why he is the lead designer at Evolv, an award winning climbing shoe company. Recently, Sharma opened a gym in California to introduce youth to the sport that defines his life. Sharma is the subject of numerous articles, stories, and documentaries as people from all over the world try to get a glimpse of what unimaginable feat Sharma will accomplish next.
