About Cindy Cone
Cindy Cone is a pioneering American soccer figure, serving as the first president of the United States Soccer Federation (USSF) since 2020. A former elite forward, she earned 158 caps for the U.S. Women's National Team from 1996 to 2006, scoring 55 goals. Highlights include the 1999 FIFA Women's World Cup triumph, gold medals at the 2004 and 2008 Olympics, and induction into the National Soccer Hall of Fame in 2018. At the University of North Carolina, Cone was a four-time All-American, amassing 68 goals and 53 assists in 103 games, contributing to three NCAA titles and earning the Hermann Trophy. As a coach, she won four collegiate national championships with the Tar Heels (2006–2012) and became the youngest head coach to claim an NWSL title, leading Portland Thorns FC in 2013. Cone has spearheaded equal pay agreements for USWNT and USMNT in 2022, chairs the 2031 Women's World Cup bid, and promotes youth accessibility.
