About Alan Page
One of the greatest defensive linemen to ever strap on a helmet, Alan Page is a member of both the Pro and College Football Halls of Fame. Page starred for the Minnesota Vikings “Purple People Eaters” defense and finished his career with the Chicago Bears. He was a nine-time Pro Bowler and All-Pro while winning two NFC Defensive Player of the Year trophies. As winner of the 1971 NFL MVP, Page is just one of two defensive players to win that award. He helped lead the Vikings to Super Bowl IV and three NFC titles. Minnesota originally took him with the 15th overall pick in 1967 out of Notre Dame. Page found a successful post-football career as well. He got his law degree from the University of Minnesota while still with the Vikings. Elected to the Minnesota Supreme Court in 1992, Page was the first African-American on the court and has been reelected three times. The Page Education Foundation financially assists minority students who spend time volunteering. As an eerie foreshadowing to his future, Page grew up in Canton, Ohio and actually worked for a construction team that built the Pro Football Hall of Fame.
