About Clyde Simmons
Clyde Simmons spent 15 years as one of the top defensive linemen in the NFL. Before his NFL career began in 1986, Simmons helped take Western Carolina University to an NCAA National Championship game in 1983. Simmons, who spent his career with 5 different teams, was most notable for his performance in his 7 seasons with the Philadelphia Eagles. In 1992 he had an NFL leading 19 sacks and as of 2014 is 16th in NFL history on the list of career sacks with 121.5. Simmons was selected to 2 Pro Bowls and 2 All-Pro teams, both in the Â91 and Â92 seasons with the Eagles. Simmons retired from the game in 2000 and worked at a mortgage firm before joining the St. Louis Rams as an assistant defensive line coach.
