About Mike Brown
Mike Brown has an extensive record of success as an NBA head coach. Brown most recently won the 2023 NBA Coach of the Year award after taking the Sacramento Kings to the playoffs for the first time since 2006. He was hired in Sacramento after serving as associate head coach of the Golden State Warriors from 2016-22 and winning three NBA championships.
Brown was previously the head coach of the Cleveland Cavaliers and Los Angeles Lakers.In the eight years Brown spent with the Cavs and Lakers, he took his teams to the playoffs six times.After a 2009 season where the Cavaliers went 66-16, he won NBA Coach of the Year.In his second season, the Cavs made it to the NBA Finals for the first time in franchise history.Brown became well known for coaching LeBron James during much of his first run in Cleveland.
He originally started in basketball as a video intern with the Denver Nuggets.Brown has also been an assistant coach for the Washington Wizards, San Antonio Spurs, and Indiana Pacers. He played collegiately at Mesa Community College and the University of San Diego.Brown grew up all over the world, being born in Columbus, Ohio, but attending high school in Wurzburg, Germany.
