About Cole Hamels
Cole Hamels was one of the most dominant starting pitchers of his era. Hamels was originally drafted straight out of high school in the first round of the 2002 MLB Draft. Playing four years in the minor leagues and overcoming injuries, as well, he was able to debut professionally for the Philadelphia Phillies in May of 2006.
Hamels is known for having one of the best changeups in the history of the game. Two years after his debut, he led the Phillies to victory in the World Series. Overall, Hamels went 4-0 in the postseason with a 1.80 ERA and was named NLCS and World Series MVP.
Hamels pitched for the Phillies until 2015, throwing a no-hitter in his final start with the club. Hamels was traded during that 2015 campaign to the Texas Rangers and helped them capture the American League West Division. He made his fourth All-Star team with the club the following year and remained their ace through the 2018 season.
Hamels went on to spend two seasons with the Chicago Cubs before being signed by the Atlanta Braves prior to the 2020 campaign.
