About Craig Berube
Craig Berube is the head coach of the Toronto Maple Leafs, regarded as one of the NHL's best. Berube is best known for his run with the St. Louis Blues in 2018 which ended with the first Stanley Cup in franchise history.
Berube was originally named Blues interim coach in 2018 and led a remarkable turnaround. He took over the team in November when they sat at the bottom of the standings. Down the stretch, Berube led them to a 30-10-5 record, including a franchise-best 11-game winning streak. For his efforts, he was named a finalist for the Jack Adams Award given to the NHL Coach of the Year.
The Blues made the playoffs three more times on Berube's watch before he took the Maple Leafs job. He originally joined the St. Louis organization as assistant head coach in 2017 and was previously the head coach of their AHL affiliate, the Chicago Wolves.
Berube did have prior NHL head coaching experience with the Philadelphia Flyers, leading them to one postseason appearance in two seasons. He built extensive credibility in the hockey world during a 17-year NHL playing career. Berube was known as an enforcer as a player and his over 3,000 penalty minutes were good enough to rank in the top ten in league history.
