About Darren McCarty
Darren McCarty had a banner NHL career that was mostly spent with the Detroit Red Wings. He was known as one of the more intimidating enforcers in the league at his peak. McCarty won four Stanley Cups with the Red Wings. Detroit originally selected him in the second round of the 1992 NHL Entry Draft. McCarty notched a career-high 42 points during the 1996-97 season when the Red Wings took home their first Stanley Cup in 42 years. Later in his career, he would go on to play for the Calgary Flames. After a successful comeback attempt through the minors, McCarty played in 16 more NHL games with the Red Wings over two seasons before retiring in 2009. In 2013, he released his autobiography, "My Last Fight: The Story of a Hockey Rock Star."
