About Denis Savard
Denis Savard played 18 seasons in the NHL from 1980 to 1997 with the Chicago Blackhawks, Montreal Canadiens and Tampa Bay Lightning. He got his start in the NHL after being selected with the third overall pick by the Chicago Blackhawks in the 1980 NHL Draft. After playing the first 11 seasons of his career with the Blackhawks he signed with the Montreal Canadiens and helped them to a Stanley Cup victory in 1993. He played three seasons in Montreal before heading to Tampa Bay from 1993 to 1995 and then resigned with the Blackhawks, eventually retiring where it all started in 1997. During his NHL career he earned nine NHL All-Star selections and scored 473 goals to go along with 865 assists for a total of 1,338 points in 1,196 games played. In the playoffs he was just as solid, scoring 66 goals and record 109 assists for a total of 175 points in 169 career games. Following his retirement the Blachawks retired his No. 18 jersey. Two years later he took his rightful place in the Hockey Hall of Fame.
