About Dave Silk
Dave Silk played 12 seasons in the NHL with the New York Rangers, Boston Bruins, Detroit Redwings and Winnipeg Jets from 1980 to 1991. During that time he also played with the Eishockey-Bundesliga, Mannheimer ERC and BSC Preussen in Germany. Silk began his pro hockey career after being selected with the 59th overall pick in the 1978 NHL Entry Draft by the Rangers out of Boston University. While playing at Boston he helped the Terriers to an NCAA Championship in 1978 and was named the New England Rookie of the Year in 1977. He signed with the Rangers just days after helping the United States National Team to a gold medal win in the 1980 Lake Placid Olympic Games. For his contributions to the game of hockey in the United States during his time in the NHL and with the USA National Team he was inducted into the United States Hockey Hall of Fame, United States Olympic Hall of Fame, and Massachusetts Hockey Hall of Fame.
