About Ken Morrow
Ken Morrow will forever be known for his longtime association with the New York Islanders and his spot on the 1980 U.S. Olympic Men’s Hockey Team. Morrow was a defensemen on the Miracle on Ice team that won Olympic gold in Lake Placid. The Islanders originally drafted him in 1976 and he would join the squad immediately following the Olympics. Immediately upon his arrival on Long Island, the franchise won four straight Stanley Cups. Morrow often played hurt, having arthroscopic knee surgeries done on two occasions just days before playoff games. His career filled with winning earned him induction to the U.S. Hockey Hall of Fame in 1995. Since 1993, Morrow has been the Islanders’ director of pro scouting. The club honored his years of service with a spot in the team’s Hall of Fame in 2011.
