David Benavidez

The undefeated American professional boxer David Benavidez has gained fame through his powerful punches and aggressive fighting approach. He has achieved multiple world championship titles in both super middleweight and light heavyweight divisions by winning the WBC super middleweight title twice and the WBA light heavyweight title. The boxing world knows Benavidez as “El Bandera Roja” (“The Red Flag”) because of his aggressive fighting style and combination punching.

At three years old David Benavidez started boxing while his father José Benavidez Sr trained him together with his brother José Benavidez Jr. He faced weight management issues at age 15 when he weighed 250 pounds but he managed to start his professional boxing career at 16 in Mexico. He quickly rose through the ranks, becoming the youngest super middleweight world champion in history at 20 years, eight months, and 22 days old.

Benavidez has defeated prominent fighters Caleb Plant and Demetrius Andrade and David Lemieux during his professional boxing career. The year 2025 brought him both WBC and WBA light heavyweight titles which established his status as a dominant force in boxing.

Benavidez has gained recognition for his charitable nature outside of his boxing career. Before his fight against Demetrius Andrade he invited his cancer-stricken teenage fan Joshua to the event and paid all expenses for his family. After the event Joshua died which left a profound effect on Benavidez.
