About Del Harris
Del Harris was one of the greatest leaders in the NBA during his time in the league as a head coach from 1979 to 1999. In 1995 he was named the NBA Coach of the Year, and led the Houston Rockets to a Western Conference Championship in 1981 as a second year coach. During his 37 years as a professional coach he served as an assistant with the Rockets, Bucks, Mavericks, Bulls, and Nets while also serving as the head coach for the Rockets, Bucks and Lakers. During his NBA career he compiled 556 career wins and led his teams to 11 postseason appearances. In 2011 he became the vice president and head coach of the Texas Legends in the NBA DLeague and continues in his role as vice president to this day. Harris is a member of the Plainfield High School Hall of Fame, the Indiana Basketball Hall of Fame and the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics Hall of Fame.
