About Derrike Cope
Derrike Cope began racing cars at a young age and pursued a career in the sport after suffering a knee injury while attending Whitman College, which ended his promising career in baseball. Once he concentrated on racing full time he flourished, beginning in the northwestern short-tracks and ending up with the big boys in NASCAR in 1990. Over the last three decades he has been a monster in the sport, finishing as one of the top candidates for rookie of the year in his first year after winning the historic Daytona 500.
When he’s not at the racetrack he enjoys traveling the country and speaking to youth about the importance of education and staying away from drugs. He’s also a devoted philanthropist, lending his support to the March-of-Dimes and the DARE program. He also owns and runs C2P Suspension, which sells shocks for a variety of automobile platforms.
