About Dick Bennett
Dick Bennett is a former head coach in college basketball who went 489-307 overall. He is best known for his tenure at Wisconsin. In six seasons under Bennett, the Badgers made three trips to the NCAA Tournament, including a Final Four appearance in 2000. After his time in Madison, he coached Washington State for three seasons. Bennett built his coaching resume in the state of Wisconsin. Prior to arriving at UW, he coached Green Bay for ten seasons. The Phoenix posted five20-win seasons and were three-time March Madness participants with Bennett. They were the first three tournament bids in school history. His college coaching career started as Wisconsin-Stevens Point. In nine years, he won 173 games. Bennett's 1984 team went 28-4 and finished as NAIA national runner-ups. Before becoming a college coach, he spent over a decade in the high school ranks in Wisconsin. Bennett's family has continued in the coaching profession. His son Tony is an accomplished coach at Virginia and daughter Kathi serves as Nothern Illinois women's basketball coach.
