About Don Brown
Don Brown is a former head coach in college football and is respected for his prowess on the defensive side of the ball. He is perhaps known for two stints as the head football coach of the UMass Minutemen.
In his first stint in Amherst, Brown led the program to two FCS playoff berths and one FCS Championship Game appearance. He also had previous successful head coaching stints at Northeastern and Plymouth State.
Brown even had greater success over a decade-plus run as one of the best defensive coordinators in college football. He served in that role for Power 5 programs like Maryland, Connecticut, Boston College, Michigan and Arizona. While with the Wolverines, they posted top ten defenses nationally in four of five years.
Most of Brown's early coaching work was in the Ivy League. He also had a notable run as the interim baseball coach at Yale, leading the Bulldogs to a 26-10 record and NCAA Tournament berth.
